Fogo Lento - Associação Cultural

Fogo Lento is a transdisciplinary research and creation platform.

It was born in 2019 and its mission is to support and disseminate transdisciplinary research and creation with a focus on in artistic practices that provide a physical and sensorial relationship with reality. We believe that“the adventure of being close to the things the world is made of” (Annie Albers, Black Mountain College), the relationship with the body and materials, as well as the study of craft practices, which are at the origin of creative work, develop the capacity of analysis and reflection, creativity and problem-solving.

The association proposes to stimulate activities with a focus on transdisciplinary creation and mediation of audiences and seeks to develop projects that do not focus only on the final product, but that create paths of learning and reflection during the creation process.

Gender equality and economic and ecological sustainability of the arts are two key issues in defining the association's plan of activities. In this sense, it is concerned with supporting creations that, from a thematic point of view, from the composition of the team or from the working method, take these issues into account.

The space CAMPO (Peripheral center of contamination between art, science and environment), in Vila Nova de Gaia, is where most of the Association's research activities are carried out.

This space favors encounters, practice and transdisciplinary reflection, thanks to its location on the outskirts, its relationship with nature, its multipurpose spaces and the network of artists and specialists linked to the project.

The Fogo Lento association receives occasional support for the development of specific projects, but does not have sustained support for the functioning of the association and for the CAMPO space, for this reason the contributions of the members are fundamental for us to be able to continue to develop our activities in a sustainable way. independent and with accessible values.

The amounts paid by the partners are used to pay the mandatory annual insurance to carry out the activities in the CAMPO and the costs of the space. Access to the space is reserved for members who are also guaranteed personal accident insurance.

This year we propose the following memberships:

Land membership: 5 euros 

Land membership (children up to 12 years old): 2.5 euros 

Seed membership: 25 euros, a plot (2mtx3mt) of the field to cultivate

Sachola member: 75 euros, 2 weeks of artistic residency in the space on dates to be agreed with the direction (use of apartment for 3 people, multipurpose room, workshop and outdoor space)

Socio arado: 150 euros, 1 month of artistic residency in the space on dates to be agreed with the direction (use of apartment for 3 people, multipurpose room, workshop and outdoor space)
